The End Of An Era - 20227 Repaint

March 13, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

In the next few weeks a re-paint of 20227 should be starting bringing to an end it's period in London Underground LT150 red and white. The locomotive has carried this unique livery since being painted to run as part of 'Steam on the Met' in March 2013 and proudly demonstrated our ongoing relationship with LT which had previously seen a repaint to Metropolitan Maroon with Sir John Betjeman nameplates to run on the Metropolitan Steam Specials, as immortalised in the Lima Model.

The slightly tired Underground Livery on 227 is to be replaced with Rail Blue at the Midland Railway, Butterley for this summers running on the North Norfolk Railway, but don't worry there are already suggestions that another preserved Class 20 could be painted in London Transport Red to continue the tradition of special liveries, watch this space...
