In Gorbachev We Trust - Twenty Five Years Ago Today

Twenty five years ago today we were 'Russian Around In Yorkshire' behind 20010 and 20032 on our fifth railtour the our tribute to the Trans Siberia Express the now legendary 'Vladivostok Avoider'. Despite clashing with Crystal Palace and Manchester United in the Cup Final the tour was a sell out, setting off from Sheffield the tour crossed Yorkshire to visit Scarborough for lunch, returning via Filey, goole Swing Bridge, Pontefract and Harrogate. The passengers enjoyed a full day of our usual railtour antics including a pair having to chase the train in a taxi from Scarborough because they were late back from lunch, the limited edition Our Tea Shirts, delays due to engineering works and a confused signal man trying to re-route mid-way through on a whim.

The two engines performed faultlessly throughout the day covering a total 230 miles for £24 arriving back the capital of the Peoples Republic of South Yorkshire, Sheffield Midland only two minutes late, leaving our team of volunteers exhausted after a really memorable day.
